Case study: Mirror Wills

Mirror Wills

Mr & Mrs Woodward contacted Winks Wills in January 2017 because they realised that although still in their 50s, they did not have a Will.

Vickie went to see the Woodwards at their home and spent some time understanding what their wishes were for their estate – which comprised some investments, a house and various material possessions. They wanted each of their wills to be a mirror of the partners. This is known as a ‘mirror will’ and is common for couples to arrange.

TestamentFollowing this first visit, where Vickie had established exactly what  the conditions and bequests were, a draft Will was developed and a further visit to the Woodwards’ home resulted in some minor amendments. The Woodwards were particularly pleased with the home visits which made the whole experience for them much less stressful.

The final version of the Will was approved by both Mr & Mrs Woodward in early February and the necessary signatures of witnesses and the Woodwards themselves were added.

The Woodwards opted to store their Will with The Secure Will Company, a partner agency of Winks Wills, because as well as he secure storage and easy access itself, this allows for any alteration to the Wills in the future to be made free of charge.

There was no charge for the three home visits and the total bill was £250. There is an annual charge of £10 for storage of the Will, which covers any future alterations.
